IT - POSTER ART BASED ON THE NIEBOLT HOUSE
(based on the 2017 movie 'IT' originally a book by Stephen King)
I have always enjoyed seeing fan art from movies and books that serve up a more obscure reference to their subjects. With this in mind I wanted to stay away from focusing on Pennywise the clown or the losers club. I thought the Niebolt House location from the movie was fantastic and had a lot of character. The book surprisingly does not offer a lot of description of the house, except it is mentioned several times that there are a lot of wild sunflowers growing out of control in the front. One of the characters even speculates that the person who lived there before was a single man that spent more time tending to his garden outside than the inside of the house in order to impress a young woman to take up home with him. This would parallel what the clown, as the new house owner, was also seeking but with different intentions.
I also tried to incorporate ideas from both the book and the movie. Photos and art that come to life, stained glass windows, control of the moon, bicycle tires, spider webs, and two kinds of fences in front of the house into the "matte" of the frame, for example.
